This recognition reflects our work representing people seriously harmed by medical negligence, birth injuries, and catastrophic accidents in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
About the Best Law Firms Rankings
Best Law Firms is now in its 17th edition and is produced independently by Best Lawyers. Firms cannot pay to be included. Instead, the rankings are based on a research process that draws on feedback from clients, other attorneys, and firm leadership.
For the 2027 edition, that process included more than 110,000 client references, surveys of 70,000 peer lawyers, and over 1,000 interviews with firm leaders. The result is a selective list. Only about 3.8 percent of law firms nationwide were included this year, which makes the recognition a meaningful measure of how a firm is viewed by both the clients it serves and the legal community it works within.
The Work Behind the Recognition
Our firm was founded by attorney Heidi G. Villari, who has practiced law since 1998 and is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Her practice is devoted to plaintiffs, and our caseload is built around matters where the stakes for clients are high and the facts are often complex.
A large share of our work involves medical malpractice claims, including missed and delayed diagnoses, surgical errors, emergency room negligence, and medication mistakes. We also handle birth injury cases involving conditions such as hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, cerebral palsy, and Erb’s palsy, along with construction accidents, product liability, premises liability, and wrongful death claims.
Across these case types, we have recovered more than $190 million for our clients through verdicts and settlements. Results include a $20 million settlement in a case involving brain damage to a newborn, an $11 million verdict in a childbirth case, and an $8 million verdict in a helicopter crash case.

We prepare every case with the expectation that it may go before a jury. Our investigation begins early, records are reviewed closely, and qualified medical and technical experts are involved from the start. We file lawsuits promptly and treat trial preparation as part of the case from the first meeting rather than a step saved for later.
